Bungee Tug Stick - Squeaky Dog Tug Toy

Tug of war, minus the dislocated shoulder

Anyone who's played tug with a determined dog knows the moment: they brace, they yank, and your arm finds out about it. The Bungee Tug Stick fixes that. One end is a chunky rubber stick for your dog. The other is a loop handle for you. In between is a length of elastic bungee that stretches with every pull, so the jolt goes into the strap and not your shoulder.

It squeaks when they bite

The stick has a squeaker built in, so every good grab gets a squeak. For a dog, that's the whole point of the game.

A grip they can hold on to

The stick is moulded in springy TPR rubber with a deep diamond pattern all the way round. Those ridges give teeth something to lock into, so your dog keeps hold when the tugging gets serious, and it's easy to carry when they win.

A handle made for hands

The strap is about 32cm of woven polyester with a padded loop at the end and the bungee section in the middle. It keeps your fingers a sensible distance from the business end.

Tug, fetch, train

Swing it by the handle and it flies a decent distance, so it doubles as a fetch toy. It's also a handy size to stuff in a coat pocket as a training reward, which is how a lot of agility handlers use a bungee tug.

Mud? Rinse it

It's rubber and polyester. Run it under the tap, give it a wipe, done.

• Small - stick approx. 17.5 x 4cm, 143g. For small and medium dogs.
• Large - stick approx. 25 x 5.5cm, 286g. For medium and large dogs.

A quick word of honesty

This is a tug and fetch toy for playing together. It's a lot tougher than a soft toy, but it's medium-firm rubber, not a chew bone, and a dog left alone to work on it will get through it eventually. Put it away when the game's over, and it'll last far longer.

Safety and care
Always supervise play. Check the stick and strap regularly and replace the toy if the rubber is split, pieces are coming away or the strap is fraying. Keep tug games low and steady, and don't lift your dog off the ground by the toy. Rinse clean and leave to dry.
