Collection: Puppy Training

Puppy pads help with toilet training when your puppy cannot go outside often enough, and during the night. Our washable quilted puppy pads can be reused many times, and our artificial grass pad gives your puppy a grass like spot indoors or on a balcony. Prices start from £16.

Choosing Puppy Training

Washable or grass pads

Washable puppy pads are absorbent quilted pads that you wash and reuse, which saves buying disposable pads. An artificial grass pad feels more like grass under the paws, which can make the move to toileting outside easier.

How to use puppy pads

Put the pad in the same place every time, close to the door you use to go outside. Take your puppy to the pad after waking, eating and playing, and praise it straight away when it goes. Gradually move the pad closer to the door.

Moving to outdoor toileting

Pads are a step, not the end goal. Take your puppy outside often, at least every two hours and after meals and naps, and reward it for going outside. Most puppies learn within a few weeks to months.

Care

Wash reusable pads as shown on the product page and keep a spare while one is drying. Rinse the grass pad regularly. For crate bedding, see Dog Mats & Crate Beds, and for training tools, see Walking & Training Accessories.

Frequently asked questions

Are washable puppy pads good?

Washable puppy pads are absorbent, reusable and reduce waste compared with disposable pads. Keep at least two so one can be used while the other is washed.

How do I train my puppy to use a pad?

Place the pad in one spot, take your puppy to it after waking, eating and playing, and praise it as soon as it goes. Clean accidents elsewhere well so the smell does not draw your puppy back.

How do I stop my puppy using pads?

Move the pad gradually towards the door, then outside. Take your puppy outside often and reward it every time it goes outdoors.

Is an artificial grass pad better than a puppy pad?

A grass pad feels more like the real thing, which can help puppies move to toileting on grass outside. It also suits balconies and flats.

How many puppy pads do I need?

Two or three reusable pads is usually enough, so one is always clean while another is being washed.
