Collection: Dog Drying Coats

A dog drying coat is a microfibre robe that your dog wears after a wet walk or bath. It soaks up water from the back, chest and belly so your car, sofa and floors stay drier. Our drying coats and towels come in sizes XS to XXXL, including hooded robes and towels with hand pockets, with prices from £11.

Choosing Dog Drying Coats

A dog drying coat is a microfibre robe that wraps your dog after a wet walk or bath and soaks up water while it settles down. It keeps mud and wet off the car, sofa and floors. Choose a robe with a belly strap for hands-free drying, or a towel with hand pockets for a quick rub down at the door.

Drying coat or towel

A drying coat stays on your dog while it dries, so it suits the car journey home or settling on the sofa. A towel is quicker for a fast rub down at the door and for paws and heads. Many owners keep a towel by the door and a drying coat in the car.

How to choose the size

Measure the back from the base of the collar to the base of the tail and the chest at its widest point. Drying coats should cover the back and wrap under the chest, with a belly strap holding them in place. If your dog is between sizes, go up a size.

Making it work best

Put the coat on straight after the walk or bath, while your dog is still wet, and leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes. Rub the head and paws with a towel separately. For muddy paws, a paw cleaner cup helps before your dog comes inside.

Washing

Microfibre works best when it is clean. Shake off loose hair, wash as shown on the product page, and avoid fabric softener, which can reduce absorbency. For more wet weather kit, see our dog raincoats.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dog drying coat?

A dog drying coat is a microfibre robe that your dog wears after a wet walk, swim or bath. It soaks up water from the coat and helps keep your car, home and furniture drier while your dog dries.

How long should my dog wear a drying coat?

Usually 20 to 30 minutes is enough for most dogs, longer for thick coated breeds. Take it off once your dog is mostly dry and hang the coat up to dry.

What size drying coat do I need?

Measure your dog's back from the base of the collar to the base of the tail, and the chest at its widest point. Choose the size that matches on the size chart, and go up a size if your dog is between sizes.

Can I put a drying coat in the washing machine?

Most microfibre drying coats and towels can be machine washed. Check the care section on each product page, and avoid fabric softener, as it can make microfibre less absorbent.

Is a drying coat better than a towel?

A towel is quicker for a fast rub down, while a drying coat keeps soaking up water while your dog travels or rests. Many owners use both.
